What were they thinking?
This was the thought that went through my head when I went to school yesterday and saw that somebody had put up little notices that read:
“Saturday Feb 6th, We *insert little heart picture here” Haiti: The valentine’s day bash”
I do think that this event is giving some money to aid Haiti (hopefully..) however I feel like smooshing Haiti and Valentine’s day together at a scuzzy bar is somehow disrespectful.
I wonder what the people of Haiti would think if they knew we were raising money (and celebrating the death of thousands of people) by drinking our faces off while listening to techno and hip hop music, meanwhile they’re over there picking up the pieces of their country after this terrible incident.
I assume there’s some good intentions that were put into this event although I feel like it’s a little disgusting and slanderous towards the charities and people that are actually donating to help the country.
Drunk people running around with drinks such as the “strawberry kiss” and/or “hershey’s kiss” dancing to techno is not really my idea of a charity event.
