This Post Is Gigantic. Yikes.

Alright, It’s been a while but I have some fun stuff to write about.
oooo,

I hope everyone is well, and isn’t being totally swallowed up by school (unlike myself) I don’t wish that on anybody.I keep having to change this since the weeks are apparently just flashing by with me barely noticing. Can the semester really be going that fast? I feel like we’ve just started and now it’s nearly over (just one more week!). This post is probably going to be intensely long - just to let you know! So if you get bored just scroll past it. I want to tell you all what I’ve been up to in the last couple months (has it been that long? really?) besides writing 5 million assignments. So I’m actually working on this slowly piece by piece during my free time in order to get it done.

I’ve been doing some interesting stuff I guess, for some reason I have become totally obsessed with beauty products, mostly stuff like makeup/skincare and nail polish. So I’m going to share some of that, whether it’s interesting to you or not? I have a lot of posts that I want to make like..photosets but one day I’ll get to it! (I’m horrible at getting to things…) I feel like I’m always (or should always be) doing homework but then I get tired of it and instead of doing other constructive hobby things I just sit around and procrastinate. (which usually leads to adding to the pile of projects I want to complete) I am trying hard to organize my life! Making lists of to do things, and projects to complete is helpful. Plus I have a white board calendar with a list of stuff and due dates on my wall as well as my ever exciting agenda. Soon it will be summer! And I will be taking correspondence classes and working full time, but at least it will be nice out..and the classes will be significantly better than what I’m taking now..(maybe?..)
Everyone! Hope that I pass organic chemistry! 50% would be totally fine with me, I just need it to be gone and out of the way foreverrr.

Alright, so I have been watching far too much YouTube and it has been teaching me a lot of things. One of those things being that the most amazing beauty product is.. extra virgin olive oil. It’s awesome. I love it. Everybody should use it. Putting oil on your face sounds weird right? Well this is great. The molecules of extra virgin olive oil (no exceptions) are too big to clog your pores so it cannot make you break out and honestly my skin has been looking amazing lately. I use it as a makeup remover (it’s all natural and wayyyy cheaper than buying a makeup remover) I use it with antibacterial soap to clean my makeup brushes (the two kills all bacteria and cleans the brushes while keeping the bristles hydrated) and I also use it to make a homemade exfoliating scrub. I recommend it to people who have dry skin and who need extra hydrating during the winter.
Here’s how to make it:

First start out with all the ingredients you’ll need:
Sugar, Honey, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a container to keep it in. It doesn’t matter what you choose, but this is what I have in mine. The ingredients here are:organic Nativa granulated cane sugar (anything is fine except splenda) natural billy bee honey and western family extra virgin olive oil.

So, Add 3 table spoons of the olive oil, 2 table spoons of the honey and half a cup of sugar. Mix it really well until you get a scrub-like consistency.

It’s a little harsh for daily use so use it about 2-3 times a week or less. When I use this I take a small amount and warm it in my hands so that it’s a little more spreadable. Then I exfoliate my face with it for about a minute and wash it off with warm water, then splash my face with cold water to shrink the pores. I use this at nighttime and I find that there is no need to use moisturizer afterwards. Your face should have a nice glow and feel soft. I love it.

I’m still not entirely sure what brough my love for makeup and knowledge on it but now I’m hooked. I’ve bought a few new things to go along with it.. haha.

The first thing I bought was a set of makeup brushes, they’re actually pretty nice and I got them through a wholesale store on ebay so they were dirtcheap. (I’ve seen the same set for 200+ and this I bought for about 20 dollars)
There’s 24 brushes and they come in a case that rolls up which is nice.

I also bought a set of blush which I’m super stoked about.

And Obviously as before I’m getting more into nail polish, although unfortunately my nails have been chipping so I had to cut them really short for now. One of my favourite things are nail art polishes, they have a really tiny brush to make it easier to draw designs with them.

One of the things I did with them recently was this: (which reminds me of beetle juice? haha..)

Alright, well that’s enough for beauty stuff. I’m sure it’s not very excited for people who aren’t really into that sort of thing.  But at the moment I’m pretty enthralled by it, so I thought I would share. I can always post some more nail or makeup ideas too if anybody is curious.

Another thing I’ve been doing a lot of is cooking and baking. I’m trying to shed a few pounds after winter (this easter weekend did NOT help at all…) so I’ve been cooking a lot of healthy (a lot of vegetarian) dishes. I haven’t taken pictures of what I’ve cooked but I may if anybody wants to see that. For example last week Kyle and I made a pasta with these huge whole grain Italian noodles (I don’t know what they were called) and zucchini, pesto, tomatoes, basil, garlic, salt, pepper and onions. I wish I had a photo of it! It was sooo delicious. I want to make it again sometime. I am also a fan of portobello mushroom stir fry and shrimp and vegetable vermicelli noodles with green coconut curry sauce. I’ve just been experimenting with things like that and it’s been turning out great. Apparently I’m a better cook than I thought. haha. (Obviously Kyle agrees) I would love to be a vegetarian for my health, however I like lobster, prawns and nearly raw steak..so that just wouldn’t work out for me.
So on the other side of healthy there’s baking..although I did make a healthier loaf of banana bread (although we didn’t use whole grain flour) and it was good.
Here’s an awesome super unhealthy cake we made though, it is a banana cake (there’s a theme here.. I love banana breads) with chocolate icing. Both were made from scratch (cause I’m awesome) The recipe came from a blog on tumblr (celebrate with cake I think it’s called)

Here's all the ingredients!
Here’s all the ingredients! (minus..the tide..don’t put that in please…)

Mixing up the cake. (I think this mixer is from the 80s..wtf)

Mixing up the fudge icing!

Finally adding it all together!

We ended up adding too much butter and the cake is quite honestly as ugly as sin but it tasted really amazing and I definitely want to make this again. (Maybe there’s a whole grain sugar free version? I doubt this..)

Yum!

Oh- and just to add to the end of this blog. I figured out how to make my own squidlet. Isn’t he adorable? You should probably buy one or something..just sayin’

Alright well that took a ridiculous amount of time and now I’m off to work.
Have a great day everybody!

(This is me pretending to be Betty Crocker)
