The Wildlife Park.
So some of you know that I started volunteering last weekend at the BC wildlife park. This weekend I had my second shift and so far I think it’s totally amazing. Some people may not like the idea of handling dead mice and chicks or cleaning up animal poop but I personally think it’s an amazing experience to get up close and personal with animals that I otherwise might never even see in the wild.
This week I took some photos, and I thought I would share some of my favourites here.

The deer fawn get all excited to get fed from milk bottles, which contain milk fromĀ goats that are at the park. They’re so adorable and awkward looking on their long legs and with giant ears. They like to lick your pants or legs as well, hahah.
Blue Heron

These are short earred owlets, I think there’s six of them in the rehab center? It might only be five. I forget. It’s a strange experience to have 6 little owls turn their heads and stare at you as you enter their enclosure. The face of the owl in the back of the three in the second photo is hilarious, he looks totally unimpressed all the time.
These are just a few of the photos I took. I love the wildlife park and all it’s animals. I just feel like cuddling baby deer and owls all day long. I feel good knowing that these animals are going to be rehabilitated and returned to the wild, and that my presence is actually helping them.
